The Swale district is our home — our studio is based in Sittingbourne, and we’ve worked at venues across the district for years. Swale covers a wider area than many people realise: Sittingbourne and its surrounding villages, Faversham, Whitstable, the Isle of Sheppey, and the countryside in between. And within that range, there’s a genuinely impressive variety of places to host a baby shower.
From a fairytale barn venue near Boughton and a historic inn in Faversham with free venue hire, to a country-house hotel near Sittingbourne and a Montessori-inspired play café in Whitstable — the choice spans every style, budget and group size. This guide covers nine of our favourites, with honest notes on each from a balloon stylist’s perspective. Prices shown are guides only — always confirm current rates directly with the venue.
What to Look For in a Venue — Before You Book
Most people focus on capacity and cost when choosing a venue. Those matter — but there are a few other things worth checking, especially if you’re planning professional balloon styling.
Our Venue Checklist
“Tell your venue you’re planning professional balloon styling when you enquire. It opens a useful conversation about ceiling height, fixings and access that saves time later.”
The Best Baby Shower Venues in Swale — Our Picks
Here’s our guide to nine venues we love for baby showers across the Swale district. We know this area well — these are the spaces we’d genuinely recommend to a friend.
Balloon styling note: One of Sittingbourne’s most-used community venues for private events. The main hall holds up to 80 guests seated, with a separate tearoom for up to 40 — making it flexible for different group sizes. Council venues are typically open to professional balloon styling with few restrictions. A backdrop garland behind the main table and centrepiece clusters transform the hall completely. The tearoom works beautifully as a more intimate gifts-and-games space when the main hall is the dining area.
Balloon styling note: One of the largest community halls in the Swale district — the licensed hall accommodates up to 320 guests, making it the right choice when the guest list is genuinely big. The scale of the space suits our most ambitious installations: a full backdrop arch, multiple table centrepiece clusters and a styled photo corner. With the catering sorted yourself, your entire event budget can go into making the room look beautiful.
Balloon styling note: Kent’s first Montessori-inspired play café — and one of the few venues in Swale that explicitly welcomes and caters for baby showers. High chairs, play areas and a welcoming atmosphere for all ages. The bright, soft interior photographs beautifully. A cake table cluster and photo corner balloon display is the perfect scale here — keep it warm and personal rather than large-scale. Soft blush, sage and cream tones complement the café’s aesthetic.
Balloon styling note: A well-loved country pub in Sittingbourne with private dining rooms and a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. Over 100 reviews and a solid local reputation for private celebrations. The warm, country interior suits soft, organic balloon styling — sage, dusty blush and ivory tones feel completely natural here. A garland above the mum-to-be’s seat and a cake table cluster is exactly the right scale for the private dining room.
Balloon styling note: A well-established local venue with good parking and a spacious clubhouse that works well for private celebrations. The generous proportions of the clubhouse suit a backdrop garland and table centrepieces rather than a full arch — let the styling complement the space without overwhelming it. Neutral, warm tones work well in this setting.
Balloon styling note: The main hotel option on the Isle of Sheppey, with function space and sea views. It’s a practical and well-established choice for guests based on Sheppey or arriving by road via the Swale crossings. We’d recommend visiting the function space before booking to confirm what works for your group size. A focused backdrop display and cake table cluster suits the function room well.
Balloon styling note: One of the best-value propositions in Kent for a baby shower — The Cow Shed at The Ship Inn offers free venue hire specifically for baby shower bookings. That means your full budget goes into styling, food and the celebration itself. The barn space is genuinely beautiful: earthy and characterful, with the kind of natural texture that makes organic balloon styling look exceptional. Sage, terracotta, dusty rose and cream tones look stunning in this space. A full arch installation is worth considering here.
Balloon styling note: A beautiful country-house hotel near Sittingbourne — one of the most elegant event venues in the district. The event suites and gardens suit our most considered, luxurious installations. Organic garlands with dried florals, soft gold accents and pearlescent balloon finishes look genuinely beautiful in a setting like this. Our Signature and Grand Luxe packages are a natural fit. If you’re planning a baby shower that you want to feel truly special, this is the venue.
Balloon styling note: The highest-rated venue in the Swale district at 4.7 stars from over 500 reviews. A beautiful barn wedding venue near Boughton-under-Blean — with a permanent marquee, open barn space and high-tea services — it’s perfectly suited to a styled, premium baby shower. High ceilings and the open barn proportions allow dramatic installations that would be impossible in a smaller space. Dried pampas, soft blush and ivory balloon tones look absolutely beautiful against the barn interior. One of our favourite venues to style in all of Kent.
Getting Around Swale
Most Sittingbourne venues have good on-site or nearby parking. Faversham town centre has parking at the Preston Street and Stone Street car parks — both a short walk from The Ship Inn. The Isle of Sheppey is accessed via the Kingsferry Bridge or the Sheppey Crossing (A249). Whitstable has parking at the Gorrell Tank and Tankerton Road car parks.
Frequently Asked Questions
What should I look for in a baby shower venue in Swale?
Beyond capacity and cost, the things that matter most are ceiling height (which determines what balloon displays are possible), early access for setup, whether the venue allows decorations, parking, and natural light for photos. Community halls give you a blank canvas and full control, while venues like The BarnYard, The Cow Shed at The Ship Inn and Hempstead House offer a more complete experience with a beautiful setting already in place.
Are there any venues in Swale with free hire for baby showers?
Yes — The Cow Shed at The Ship Inn in Faversham offers free venue hire specifically for baby shower bookings. It’s an exceptional arrangement that means your full budget goes into styling, food and the celebration itself. The barn space is genuinely beautiful and the catering is handled in-house. It’s one of the best deals in the district.
Do you cover the whole Swale district?
Yes — our studio is in Sittingbourne, right in the heart of Swale. We cover the full district including Faversham, Whitstable, the Isle of Sheppey and all surrounding villages. Because we’re based here, there’s no delivery charge anywhere within the district.
How early do I need venue access for balloon styling?
We recommend at least 60–90 minutes before guests arrive. When you book your venue, mention that you’re planning professional balloon styling — it’s a useful conversation to have early and helps everyone plan access times correctly.
